It’s the Best Day of the Year!
Our annual Fishin’ Galore event is held in May at the 3 Bar E Ranch in Clinton, LA. Every year, over 100 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patients and their families enjoy a fun-filled day of fishing, food, and friendship. Participants arrive early to pick up crickets and fishing gear provided by generous sponsors. With the help of our many volunteers, patients and family members enjoy fishing, arts and crafts, petting zoo fun, and face painting.
Local law enforcement escort buses of eager patients and family members from their hotel to the ranch where they are greeted by hundreds of excited volunteers and guests. After a grand entrance, the celebration of life and support lasts throughout the day. Activities include pond fishing, skeet shooting, an archery booth, a photo booth, batting cages, and lots of children’s games and activities! Delicious meals and snacks are served all day.
A closing ceremony to thank sponsors, donors, and volunteers who helped make the day possible includes a live butterfly release to celebrate the memory of patients and volunteers who are no longer here to celebrate the beautiful day. To end the festivities, Board Members and Team Leads toss Mardi Gras beads to excited and eager children (and adults) for one last round of sharing smiles, hugs, and photos to remember this year’s reunion. The event makes such an impact that many patients return year after year! The smiles, togetherness, and laughter make Fishin’ Galore an event that stays in the hearts of the St. Jude families who attend.
Dream Day Foundation would like to thank the volunteers, sponsors, vendors, law enforcement groups, local organizations, and many more for their help and support in making this a memorable day for the St. Jude families! New patients are encouraged to attend next year’s event.
