“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.” ― John Lennon
Dreams for good causes have a way of capturing the imagination of fellow dreamers in countless ways. Danny Thomas had a dream with the founding of the St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis. Many, many people and groups join him to realize the one vision of ending childhood cancer and other diseases. They raise those funds in so many different ways to achieve that dream.
A group of motorcycle officers leads the way not only escorting families to the Fishin’ Galore Day but at another time with their friends and families. These officers make up the top group raising funds for The Dream Day Foundation. This year they raised $71,014 during a weekend of competition, raffles, and other events.
For the past 15 years, several Louisiana and Baton Rouge sheriff and police forces host a competition in Cabella’s Parking Lot at Gonzales, LA. The sponsors include The Louisiana State Police, the Sheriff’s Offices of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, and West Baton Rouge as well as the Police Departments of Baton Rouge, Gonzales, and Louisiana State University. Motorcycle officers from across Louisiana and from surrounding states compete in weekend of event called the Gulf Coast Police Motorcycle Skills Championship.
