Clinton, Louisiana, May 3, 2014 – The 2014 Fishin’ Galore Event marked the 20th anniversary for the Dream Day Foundation’s day of fishing and outdoor fun for St. Jude patients and their family members. The beautiful weather and day-long program provided both a break from hospital routines and time to visit and play with friends and family.

Over 136 patients from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital along with close members of their family and Dream Day volunteers enjoyed the festivities of the 20th Annual Fishin’ Galore event. The special day ended with cake and ice cream, beads thrown to the children, and a balloon launch celebrating the lives of the children.

Hosted by the Dream Day Foundation based in Baton Rouge, LA, corporate sponsors and hundreds of volunteers from the Greater Baton Rouge community make it a reality. They provide the St. Jude patients and their families a day away from illness, hospitals, needles, and the anxiety that many patients suffer. The event offers bass fishing, archery, a petting zoo, motorcycle and 4-wheel riding, Home Depot project building, arts and crafts, face painting, riding a manned lift, helicopter rides, football toss, volleyball, and a photo booth to capture memories from the amazing day. Food and activities are free for all attending. LSU mascot, Mike the Tiger, made a surprise visit, downing a volunteer shirt, petted animals, played volleyball and posed for pictures with young and old alike.

Marty Engquist, President of the Board of Governors, pleased with the amazing turnout, just kept saying over and over, “It’s all about the kids!”
